I love the New York bar scene on a Sunday night. It’s always interesting the characters you’ll meet. Tonight I met Harold, a Cuban who emigrated by speed boat to Miami eight years ago. He’s been unemployed and scraping by in NYC for the last 4 months. Harold’s a self-proclaimed political atheist, which seems strange to me for someone coming from a place embroiled in so much political controversy. He’s not quite a hacker, but he has some computer roots. We connected on topics of first access to the Internet, old video games like “Prince of Persia”, and on life in New York. I told him the story of my first two days here in the city, when I started a business on a whim with a complete stranger, and I think it gave him hope. I’m hoping you’ll get to meet him, and his outrageous hair, at my first Recession Proof NYC party next month.
