After some heated debate last night over the health care issue I wondered why can’t we just leave things the way they are save for three things:
1. Uninsured patients pay the same prices for treatment that Medicare does.
2. Uninsured patients automatically qualify for Medicare if care exceeds some threshold.
3. Doctors who accept Medicare or Medicaid must accept the uninsured.
It’s not so bad to be uninsured when you’re young, so long as there is some form of safety net. I wouldn’t mind paying my doctor instead of paying some insurance giant who is going to try to screw us both later. I feel like taking the word “coverage” out of the debate takes away the ammunition from people who cry socialism.
