Party of No →
evangotlib: mikehudack: ericmortensen: think4yourself: azspot: Paragons of fiscal discipline, every Senate Republican today voted against reestablishing “pay-as-you-go” budgeting rules that mandate that any new spending must be paid for. The rule passed on a 60-40 party line vote. Now dare them to vote no on new nuke plants or offshore drilling.

Will we see more JD Salinger work published?
While he was living with Maynard, Salinger continued to write in a disciplined fashion, a few hours every morning. According to Maynard, by 1972 he had completed two new novels.[77][78] In a rare 1974 interview with The New York Times, he explained: “There is a marvelous peace in not publishing…. I like to write. I love to write. But I write just for myself and my own...

Last night our President made an impassioned plea to Congress, to the media, to corporate and special interests. He asked them to stop lining their pockets with wealth and power, just for a moment, and do what’s right for the people they’re supposed to be serving. They sat and listened politely, stood and clapped at the appropriate times, and then went back to business as usual. ...

Three Reasons BNE is a Douche
ericmortensen: justinday: wreckandsalvage: At the risk of sounding completely uncool, I think this guy is a douche on par with balloon-boy’s dad and every other publicity-seeking, talentless, egomaniacal dickface in our society. Here’s why: 1. Three-letter stickers in a nondescript vanilla font are not creative. If you’re tagging to protest against advertising, which everyone can agree is...

Good riddance to tumblarity
Notice that Tumblr is much more substance and much less pretty pictures and auto-meme-reblogs lately? I hope tumblarity never comes back.

The trouble with convergence
Sure, cable is the new land line. People are canceling in droves and heading for platforms like Boxee, Roku, and others. Here’s the rub though. None of the stuff we worked so hard to build for the desktop works in the living room. We can’t effectively measure drop-offs, or even views in some cases. We can’t run any of the innovate ad products that we’ve spent so much...

Hacking the Peek into the TwitterPeek
So I know that the standard Peek already has some support for Twitter via PeekApps, but since that’s in closed beta I decided to roll my own. I’ve optimized my setup so that only mentions and DMs come through, and so that replies “just work”. First I setup a gmail box for my incoming tweets to go to, and then set that up as my peek address. Ok pretty simple so far. ...
