vegansaurus:
Being vegan, most of the time it’s easy to make decisions at restaurants. Usually at most there’s two or three vegan or veganizable items on a menu. With years of practice, it takes about three seconds to flip through a menu and zero in on what I can eat with pinpoint accuracy. (It also “helps” if your parents are there: “Look honey, you can get the soup!”)
It can be a little...

TRON command →
86400:
TRON is a debugging command in the BASIC programming language. It is an abbreviation of TRace ON. It is used primarily for debugging line-numbered BASIC GOTO and GOSUB statements. In text-mode environments such as the TRS-80 or MS-DOS/IBM PC-DOS, it would print the current line number which was being executed, on-screen. In a windowed environment, when the TRON command had been...

I’d like to see this happen, too, but I think it’s unlikely as it undercuts the network effects of Tumblr. I encourage people to start Tumblr blogs so that I can read...

Movie goers synchronize blinking →
Worried you’ll blink and miss a crucial piece of the action? Then you can relax. While watching a film, we subconsciously control the timing of blinks to make sure we don’t miss anything important. Part of my eagerness is the fact that I didn’t enter medicine with the intention of being a Permanente physician; I didn’t even know what that meant, until the end of my residency, when the Group Health medical...
You know that feeling you get when the lyrics to a song you’ve been listening to for years suddenly sink their teeth into you with new depth and meaning, and your skin runs cold in the heat of the summer morning sun? Yeah, that’s an awesome feeling.
After some heated debate last night over the health care issue I wondered why can’t we just leave things the way they are save for three things:
1. Uninsured patients pay the same prices for treatment that Medicare does.
2. Uninsured patients automatically qualify for Medicare if care exceeds some threshold.
3. Doctors who accept Medicare or Medicaid must accept the uninsured.

“A Seattle outlet of the 16,000-store coffee behemoth is being rebranded without visible Starbucks identifiers, as 15th Avenue Coffee and Tea.”
I’d expect a move this odd to come from Microsoft’s PR department.
What happens if this is wildly successful? Stealth McDonalds anyone?
