Know Your Meme: Christian Bale Rant
Never got around to writing up notes on this episode last week.
The Christian Bale Rant was one of those events that was ridiculously popular for a hot second but had an incredibly fast roll off. Because of that, we decided to concentrate on the reasons why it fell off so fast instead of retelling a story that everyone already seemed to know.
One...

A Cyber-Attack on an American City →
By Bruce Perens
Just after midnight on Thursday, April 9, unidentified attackers climbed down four manholes serving the Northern California city of Morgan Hill and cut eight fiber cables in what appears to have been an organized attack on the electronic infrastructure of an American city. Its implications, though startling, have gone almost un-reported.
That attack demonstrated a severe fault...
It *is* how hard you work.

“There is only one factor that matters. Results. That’s the difference between being an entrepreneur vs. being a rank-and-file employee is being rewarded for results (ownership) vs. being rewarded for punching the clock alone (a paycheck). What happened to my old internet?
Today we learned that even in the most liberal of countries you can go to jail and be fined for 1mm dollars for linking to pirated material hosted on someone else’s computer. We also learned that here in the United States the FBI has been actively using spyware technologies to keep tabs on us.
Where’s the outrage? Why aren’t the pages going black? Why are people tweeting...
It's the second taste that gets us
It’s days like this that I love walking to work. New York is blossoming with people. The bikes suddenly seem to outnumber the cars. The sidewalks are suddenly crowded again. It’s because it’s the second taste that gets us.
It’s as if we tend to collectively forget that winter doesn’t go down that easy. A nice day springs up and we think, “Oh, spring is...

All quotes from space are misquoted. It’s “Houston, we’ve had a problem.” and “One small step for a man, one giant leap for mankind.”

BBS: The Documentary →
I watched some of this last night at NYC Resistor and all the memories came flooding back. The threads, the people, the door games, and the meetups, it was quite a special time. My board was called The Straylight Run, and specialized in programming and the demo scene.
Browsing around while the movie was going I was happy to find Renegade is still around and has even had a few updates.
